A new year begins. What better way to start it than writing your mind out. :)
I had a dream lately, a dream where I was walking besides a park near my house. I was not alone. I was walking with some other people, people I think I knew in the dream but I have no idea who they were.
I was walking with a girl and I remembered her face even after I woke up, not because there was anything striking about it but because of the fact that I had never seen her face before in real life. Now, before your thoughts drifts in some other direction (and I know they already have), let me bring you back to the jist of the thought I wanted to share with you. There are no 'romantic' connotations involved here.
After the dream, it just struck me. Did I just make up a person's face in my dream, a person I know I haven't seen before in real life?
Isn't it a person's face that gives him or her their own unique identity (well, in most cases....no twins in my dreams as of yet :P)? So, theoretically, I just created a new person, a new identity with a face and existence. Out of the 6 billion odd people on this planet, the creation of my dream could stand on its own as a separate being.
It made me wonder the power God possesses, of creating human beings with different shapes and sizes, each being having some difference or the other in their appearance, looks, voice, skin tones, hair color. God has created so many faces till now and still has not run out of any options!! Does he have a book of faces he refers to before creating a new one? :P
But this also made me wonder about the power of the human mind, its imagination and the power to play God. And also, the simplicity of it. People who write novels, who create animated movies, who create video games (sorry, but I am a gamer, so couldn't resist including this :P), are creating new faces on a regular basis.
This thought made my epiphany a little less significant but it still gave me solace that I too am in the list of those 'great' people who have added another page to the real Face Book of this world. :)
Huge human imagination power have been put in very nice way..:)
ReplyDeleteActually, what I found even more noticeable is the cycle of aging... Every 5 years the face of every individual changes... So it is actually creativity within creativity... Cycles of shades and designs coming and going... I can't say it's God or human perception... But it is truly remarkable...
ReplyDeleteBtw I still think you remember the dream because there was a girl in it
Fun Intended ..no offenses please :Well just to add...it took you almost 26 years to draw a face of which you were thinking everyday :P:P...so i cant give much credit to your huge imagination :P
ReplyDeletethinking if God wld have taken so long ...what wld have happened :)
Being a theist, i agree to your point that God has infinite creativity. His creativity doesn't limit to human faces, if one thinks can be observed in emotions, feelings, reactions, planets, animals, etc...
ReplyDeleteI also think that because the girl was there in your dream, you were motivated to create a blog :P
Anyways, nicely written...keep it up..looking for more blog post from your side.
ohh.. it was a great one.. i think freud would be able to tap what ur dream meant..
ReplyDeleteJokes apart...
It actually makes u believe in the limitless power of imagination and creativity of human mind, which is most of the time clouded with visions of self-doubts...
Keep it up bro and keep bemusing us...
KEEP SMILING.. :-)
Nice read,
ReplyDeleteFew months back I was in Mangalore and enjoying a weekend, I too was wondering on what could be the zenith of creativity. The fact as said, one should strive for excellence and not success.
Creating humans may have been a success but giving different shapes would be a art of excellence.
I personally believe that each artist is having a direct competition with this Guy who is creating the world.
Look at the mountains, oceans, animals or simply as human face with an attitude of an artist excites me to the core.
Well, said enough.. Congrats Bhai.. you are in direct competition with HIM now..
make your creation an open source. May be it gets materialized soon and even romantic angles come into the picture.
and Dude write more. i love your blog.
Cheers
